Maple Syrup

We are going to see a decline in this years Maple Production due to a very cold Spring. Maple Syrup producers are reporting Nationally an 18% decline to 1.24 million gallons. This year’s season started very late due to the cold and then warmed very quickly.

New this year is that many large commercial producers are putting in vacuum systems that pull the sap from the trees when conditions aren't ideal, rather than waiting for it to drip, he said. Yields can be increased from 50 to 100%.
